Romney doing lunch instead of the vice presidency?

PolitickerMD.com reports that Mitt Romney will be appearing at a Sept. 12 fundraiser for a House candidate in Maryland. That's a week after the Republican National Committee Convention -- a week after most people think Romney will accept the vice presidential nomination.

Is this event a sign that Romney is not McCain's choice?

Not likely. Romney is also attending the Values Voters Summit in Washington DC that day. His selection as the GOP vice presidential nominee would actually make that appearance even more important. So Romney will be in the Mid-Atlantic neighborhood. Why not drop into a fundraiser?
