Romney roundup

Here are all the latest Mitt Romney stories from around the country:

The Utah Republican National Convention delegates, who were trying to change state law so they could cast their ballots for John McCain instead of Romney, got their wish. It's OK though: Mitt released them and approved of the change.

Amy Walter, editor-in-chief of the National Journal's influential The Hotline, sees Joe Biden's pick as increasing Romney's vice presidential chances as a "defensive pick." Noting his strength as a debater and attack dog, she also asks, "Who better to understand the details of the national economy than a successful businessman?"

Popular conservative blogger Hugh Hewitt agrees.

But do e-mails like this and a national line of attack centered on the VP criticizing the nominee really bode well for an imminent Romney selection?

And a new poll of likely voters in Nevada, where McCain is performing well, says that "Romney's presence on the ballot would make them more likely to vote for McCain was double the number who said they'd be less likely to vote for a McCain-Romney ticket, 26 percent to 13 percent."

Now who will McCain Pick?

Now who will McCain Pick? They have shot their self in the foot when it comes to Romney. McCain released attack ads on the Biden Pick because Biden said some things negitve toward Obama during the primary.

Romney called McCain dishonest during the Primary, and more.

Huckabee came in second during the Primary not Romney. This won't go over well with the Christian Base.

Romney and McCain would be the Super Rich ticket - In a middle Class Election.

Biden will win working class Votes, Romney will remind the working class he is the guy that lays you off.

Biden will be filmed going to church every Sunday, Romney will be filmed going to a Mormon church, making the base of the GOP more than Uncomfortable.

So who should McCain pick??

Huckabee would energize the Base.

Huckabee is veiwed as Middle class, winning overwhelming working class voters.

Huckabee didn't attack McCain during the primary.

Huckabee can hold his own with anyone in debates.

Huckabee has 1 house

Huckabee is the most logical, despite what the bloggers that are on Romney's payroll say. By the way, the radio host of Republican talk radio
they are on the Romney payroll too. Romney should learn he can't buy an election. He outspent every candidate during the primaries, even outspending Huckabee 6 to 1. Huckabee still got more delegates.

SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM MIKE HUCKABEE

I'm Mike Huckabee. I lost 100 pounds praying, my son tortured a dog, and I'll be madder if Romney is VP than I was the time I got caught banging my sister. Remember, even though I dropped out of the theological seminary for bigots, and Romney went to Harvard and made almost a $1 billion pre-tax dollars, I'm smarter and . . . most importantly, I'm a Christian and Romney is a cultist. God told me this when he put that cross in my TV commercial.

Not Romney

Despite the Dems and the allied main stream media’s desperation to see Romney as McCain’s Veep, Mitt is clearly out, with (1) Obama doubling down on the class warfare theme (McCain’s 7 houses) and (2) McCain doubling down with ads showing the hypocrisy of Biden attacking Obama in the primaries — Romney did way more than that contra McCain.

This leaves only Govs Sarah Palin and Tim Pawlenty. Pro-abortion Ridge and Dem-Lieberman were never real considerations, despite relentless media goading. Pawlenty’s lackluster TV performances, coupled with Palin pizzazz, the primacy of oil drilling and the ticked off women/Hillary voters, does now portend a McCain/Palin checkmate on the Dems. This is so albeit the Dems and liberal media dare not mention Palin’s name, that is, everyone but…..

And if there’s any question as to Palin being uniquely positioned and able to more than nullify Biden in debate, see the excellent discussion at palinforvp.blogspot.com

Team McCain, well done!!!

Huckabee

Huckabee would have been a great choice for VP if it wasn't for the fact that he is nuts.

Bang, bang...goodbye!

Huck is a lost cause--he DID HIMSELF IN!

Google "huckabee obama gun". You will GET A MILLION HITS! Following is an example of what would be in store for McCain if he were to stupidly choose Huckabeen for VP, which he won't!

HUCKABEE TASTELESS JOKE TO NRA CONVENTION OF OBAMA AVOIDING GUN SHOT

"Former presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee was interrupted by a loud crash off stage last Friday as he addressed the National Rifle Association in Kentucky, commenting that the noise was Democratic candidate Barack Obama falling off a chair as he dodged a gun aimed at him. "That was Barack Obama. He just tripped off a chair. He was getting ready to speak and somebody aimed a gun at him, and he dove for the floor," Huckabee told the NRA convention. Exactly how racist and overtly callous are the Republicans?

Huckabee later issued a statement saying he did not intend his "offhand remark" to offend the Illinois senator.

Right. A remark made about the only serious black presidential contender in the history of this Republic, getting greased at an NRA convention was offhanded?

I had a grain of respect for this guy at one time regarding his political skill and tact on the trail - not now. He crossed the line.

Obama should demand a public apology from Huckabee, and if he doesn't get it, the progressive blogs and the Democratic party should make this statement from Huckabee a centerpiece of the Fall ad campaign.

No breaks on this. I say beat Huckabee and McCain over the head with this at every turn, just like the Republicans did to Obama with the Wright controversy. If these jackasses want to play hardball, I say lets play.

This comment was outrageous and made by a man who obviously is willing to tow the Republican, closet racist agenda, in a bid to be vice president.

His comment was disgusting and reprehensible, and I for one, expect a higher standard of public conduct from a minister. Huckabee should be ashamed of himself."

So Huckies--enough alreadly! It ain't gonna happen!

Romney proved conservative strength in primaries

Check the results from the Republican primaries. In most states Romney consistently captured the largest share of voters who described themselves as conservative or very conservative. He was WAY out ahead with fiscal conservatives. McCain won because of so-called moderates and independents, and because Huckabee bled off enough anti-Mormon evengelicals to keep Romney from overtaking McCain. Nevertheless, Romney's supporters include many, many evangelicals. Huckabee appeals to Huckabee-style anti-Mormon evangelicals, and few other voters.

Romney The CLEAR Choice

Anyone still talking about Huckabee (who couldn't energize a dead battery, much less the GOP conservatives)or far-left folks like Lieberman or Ridge is still drinking the media's primary Kool-aid. Romney is the only choice to beat Obama and Biden. Biden is a wanna-be Ted Kennedy with none of the gravitas or accomplishments. They only picked Biden because he was Catholic - a strategic move not a smart move. Biden shouldn't feel too flattered.

Said thing now is that McCain seems willing to sacrifice the election because he's resentful of the primary race and doesn't want Romney sitting as his #2. Funny isn't it? Neither does the Democrats. That should tell McCain that Romney is exactly who he needs...and our country.
