Halperin predicts Romney

While many analysts are forecasting his decline, major political reporter, insider and CW-shaper Mark Halperin of Time believes that Mitt Romney will be John McCain's choice for vice president.

His thoughts, as shared in St. Paul last night:

They are not as close as McCain is like Tom Ridge and like Governor [Tim] Pawlenty. But I think that Romney right now makes the most sense.

I agree

Mitt Romney is the clear choice for VP. We don't need two Military oriented people in the White House. We need someone to focus on our domestic economy. That was George Bush's problem. He loved international issues but didn't focus enough on domestic issues.

Ahh, yes, the economy

Absolutely... when I hear of Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvanie, I think of the economy, so I agree. It looks like Mitt Romney will be on the ticket.

This will be great for the country! Have one guy that is a foreign policy, war veteran commander-in-chief, and the other guy who is massively experienced and talented with economic issues. A McCain/Romney ticket has my vote, no question.

I suppose it could also be Portman, but I guess we only know for sure on the 29th.

Romney!

I think McCain's going to make the right choice!

We Want Romney!

Romney would make the best POTUS . . .

And that's really the only criterion that should apply to the VP choice.

I'd feel much more comfortable with Romney in the Oval Office than any other politician in our nation. Not wishing any demise on McCain, but that's just how I feel.

Romney for VP - PLEASE!!!!

Romney would bring balance to the ticket. This combination would work great!! "McCain * Romney "08!! :)

"MITT ROMNEY IS THE BEST QUALIFIED CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT. His record of accomplishments is sensational. Harvard Law and MBA cum laude simultaneously, Baker Scholar, created Staples, Timberland, Dominoes Pizza and many more. Was called in to turn Massachusetts into a thriving state and did so working without pay. Begged to save the failing Salt Lakes Olympics and did so brilliantly again refusing compensation. A married man with fine children and spotless record of integrity. He would make a great V.P. for McCain. ... The two great issues that face America today are Foreign policy and Security and the economy. The combination of McCain Romney is irresistable."

Romney is OUT now

NO doubt that Romney is out as a VP choice with all the attention being given to McCain's real estate holdings. Obama is engaging in hardcore class warfare, and there is no way McCain will have a "Richy Rich" on his ticket now.

He will have to go for a working class type guy now....Pawlenty or Huckabee most likely.
