12 years of all-Democratic House delegation

Massachuetts hasn't elected a Republican to the U.S House of Representatives since 1994, when Peter Blute and Peter Torkildsen were re-elected to second terms. Two years ealier, Blute defeated Joseph Early and Torkildsen ousted Nicholas Mavroules. They lost in 1996 to James McGovern and John Tierney, respectively.  Only three states have gone longer than Massachusetts without sending a Republican to the House: North Dakota, Hawaii, and Vermont; Maine also last elected a GOP Congressman in 1994.
