12 years of all-Democratic House delegation

Massachuetts hasn't elected a Republican to the U.S House of Representatives since 1994, when Peter Blute and Peter Torkildsen were re-elected to second terms. Two years ealier, Blute defeated Joseph Early and Torkildsen ousted Nicholas Mavroules. They lost in 1996 to James McGovern and John Tierney, respectively. Only three states have gone longer than Massachusetts without sending a Republican to the House: North Dakota, Hawaii, and Vermont; Maine also last elected a GOP Congressman in 1994.

Delahunt reports $1.4M in cash on hand but loses money for the quarter

Tenth district U.S. Rep. Bill Delahunt (D-Quincy) reported having less in his campaign war chest than when the second fundraising quarter began, according to the Federal Election Commission.

Like fellow Rep. James McGovern (D-Worcester), Delahunt gave large sums of money to other Democratic candidates for Congress while raising a miniscule $1,908 for the quarter and just $83,108 so far this cycle.

Nevertheless, Delahunt reported $1,456,937.91 cash on hand. He began the quarter with $1,588,046.06 in his bank account.

McGovern reports $303K cash on hand and large donations to other Dems

In spite of giving large sums of money to other campaigns U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Worcester) reported $303,872.98 cash on hand for the second quarter, according to the Federal Election Commission.Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Worcester)

McGovern, who represents the Bay State's 3rd Congressional District, raked in $139,203.28 in total contributions for the quarter and has collected $863,391.82 in total contributions for this election cycle.

Midway through 2006, McGovern had just $100,438.58 cash on hand.
