Kennedy tapes message for convention

U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Hyannis Port) taped a five-minute video to be played at the Democratic National Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Hyannis Port)Convention last weekend in case he is unable to make it to Denver, Colo., at the end of August, the Associated Press reports.

Kennedy suffered a seizure on May 17 and was subsequently diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. He underwent surgery to remove the tumor at Duke University Medical center on June 2 and finished a six-week phase of chemotherapy and radiation last week.

A Kennedy spokeswoman told the Associated Press that a video crew visited Kennedy's home on Cape Cod to record the message in the event that Kennedy's health precludes him from travelling to Denver for the convention, which begins Aug. 25.

The Boston Herald also reported Monday that the five-minute video segment will be part of an approximately 15-minute film tribute to Kennedy aired at the convention.
