Presumptive Democratic nominee U.S. Sen. Barack Obama is scheduled to make a pit stop in Boston on Aug. 4 for a fundraiser, PolitickerMA.com has learned.
Sources with knowledge of Obama's fundraising schedule said the event will take place between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the State Room at 60 State Street in Boston.
Details for the event are still being worked out, but Obama's fundraisers are expecting a big crowd for the event, which happens to be on Obama's 47th birthday. Attendants to the event are likely to be big-dollar donors.
Obama will not hold any other events while he is in town and is unlikely to campaign very often in Massachusetts since it is not viewed as a competitive state. A June 30 SurveyUSA/WBZ Poll showed Obama leading Republican rival U.S. Sen. John McCain 53 percent to 40 percent among Bay State voters.
