The 2004 nominee will deliver a prime-time speech on Wednesday night, which has the theme of "Securing America’s Future." Obama's as-of-yet unannounced vice presidential candidate will also be speaking that night, the convention's third. Senators Evan Bayh (D-Ind.) and Joe Biden (D-Del.), who are also widely rumored to be top prospects for Obama's running mates, will speak Wednesday night as well.
Obama is to accept the nomination on Thursday night.
Other speakers on Wednesday night include former President Bill Clinton, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.), former Senate Leader Tom Daschle (S.D.), Gov. Bill Richardson (N.M.), Senate Select Intelligence Committee Chairman John D. Rockefeller IV (W.V.), Senators Jack Reed (R.I.) and Ken Salazar (Col.), House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn (S.C.), Representatives Patrick Murphy (D-Penn.) and Robert Wexler (D-Flor.), Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and Iraq War veteran Tammy Duckworth.
Kerry as VP- Yes!
It is good to see Senator Obama's staff at least give some of the respect to Senator Kerry that he deserves. I don't think there is another Democrat that has done as much for Senator Obama as Mr. Kerry has. What a gracious man. This is the man that should be our president now. It is a shame he could not have run this time around. it appears Senator Obama will be chosing someone else for VP, but I think Senator Kerry would be a wonderful choice. I don't give a rats ass for the BS left over from 2004- all those lies and smears. Senator Kerry is a good man, a patriot and he deserves better treatment that what he seems to receive from Democrats sometimes. Senator Kerry would be my first choice for VP and he would excel at it, taking a lessor role if he thought it would benefit the country. To bad some Democrats and the media aren't grown up enough to realize that losing make one stronger and better in battle the second time out.
Whiskers, I agree 100%. The
Whiskers, I agree 100%. The more I look at the VP choices being talked about, the more I realize that Kerry would be exactly the guy this country needs. Of course he would be even better as President himself, like he should have been. But he'd make a great VP too.
I don't think he'll be picked though, because the Dems are too afraid of their own shadows to stand up to the smear machine. Obama is doing good but he has to have the party establishment behind him, and as happy as the establishment is to take the money Kerry raises for their races, I don't see them backing him for VP.
