Verga falls in primary

Gloucester's Ann-Margaret Ferrante has won an upset victory over incumbent Rep. Tony Verga (D-Gloucester) and Astrid af Klinteberg (D-Gloucester) in the Essex-5th District House Democratic primary tonight.

Ferrante won the three-way race with 47 percent of the vote compared with 40 percent for Verga and 13 percent for af Klinteberg.

Ferrante could not be reached for a statement as of press time and Greg Verga, Verga's brother and campaign manager, said he had no comment.
